New branch in Dubai

Cepex has established new distribution branch in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to support its activities and deploy new business opportunities in the region of Middle East.
The new company, called Cepex Middle East Fze, is located inside Jebel Ali Free Zone, the premium free trade zone of the area. The facility has a total area of 550 m2 divided in offices and warehouse.
As a regional business base, Dubai is strategically located midway between Asia and Europe. The city offers international companies an ideal gateway for developing their business throughout the Middle East an, in general, the Asian continent.
In the Jebel Ali Free Zone and the new Airport Free Zone, overseas companies are permitted to set up wholly-owned companies and can enjoy an array of incentives. With these advantages and incentives in place, Dubai has attracted a massive inflow of investment in recent years.

Cepex in Smagua '06

The 17th edition of SMAGUA show, the largest Spanish biennial water and environment event, took place from 28th to 31th March at Zaragoza Exhibition Center.

Cepex enjoyed genuine success at SMAGUA 2006. It was a landmark event for the company in terms of contacting professionals and specialised technicians, launching new products and building, enhancing relationships with existing and new customers. The 140m2 booth, the biggest one that Cepex ever had, was completely surrounded by a transparent installation which showed the main Cepex products working under pressure. These peculiarity attracted people attention and helped to increase the number of visitors in the booth. Once again, in the present edition of the exhibition, there was an above-average rise in the exhibition space and in the number of both exhibitors and visitors. SMAGUA 2006 received around 35.000 visitors and 1.560 exhibitors, which means an increase of 17% compared with 2004 edition, distributed in 7 halls with a 65.000m2 total area.

New IIP certification

A new certification has been given to the polypropylene compression fittings Performance Series, it is the IIP UNI, a compulsory certification to be able to sell in the italian market. This document proves that the compression fittings are perfect for pressure water handling with connection to polyethilene pipes. As said by the company in charge of this certification, our fittings are ready to be used in a wide range of applications: drinking water transport, irrigation, fire extinguishing systems, industrial piping and waste piping. Added to the other five certifications yet existing, Cepex compression fittings are guaranteed at an european level. New Cepex holding head office in La Garriga


Cepex Holding will be moving their current head office to the new facilities in La Garriga on January 2nd 2006. Cepex, SAU valve division, VRAC and Cepex Comercial will also move to the new location. The 33.000 square meters of these new installations will be added to the already available production surface (Granollers, Les Franqueses and Vic) and the branches facilities in Lisboa and Porto (Portugal), Casablanca (Maroc), Brescia (Italia), Munich (Deutschland), Nîmes (France), Jacksonville (USA), Mèxico D.F. and Queretaro (México). The extension of the production capacity obtained with these new facilities is a key factor in the future development of Cepex. Concentration of the production of valves in one single location pretends to homogenize and make profitable the production processes involved, in order to improve the products and services that are being offered. New certifications
ISO 14001

As we are saying few months ago, the manufacturing plant in Granollers (Cepex SAU) have been working to achieve the Environmental Management Certificate ISO 14001, in this moments the certificate has obtained and now, all the Cepex manufacturing plants have got this certificate.

The active policies aimed at environment improving in line with the company's commitment to considering environmental
policy as a priority in its strategy. productive companies of Cepex Holding has been promoting the last years This process of environmental conscience has taken to several of the companies to pick up the challenge to obtain the Environmental Management Certificate ISO 14001.The first company of the group in obtaining it was Manufactures de Plàstics Solà in December of 2003.
Companies VRAC and FORPLAST have obtained the certificate after succesfully passing the audits of certification in January 2005.The company CEPEX has passed the preliminary audit and it is planned to obtain the certificate ISO 14001 by the end of 2005.

New packaging standards

Considering the answers from our customers gathered by the sales network, Cepex is going to replace its current packaging. This change is based on several causes:
Environmental causes: reduction of the use of the cardboard (sub boxes) and plastic (shrink wrapping), commitment of reduction based on the future ISO 14000.
Units per box change: the new type of customers we have require less units per box. With this criterion we will create a smaller box (B) and units per box will be reduced.
Closing system: remove the cover and change to the standard system, mainly best valued than the current system.
Replacement of the sub boxes by plastic bags (excepting any products that will keep unitary packaging). The new packaging will be available as soon as the stock of old packaging will be ended; the new packaging standards compared with the old ones could be seen in th Technical Catalogues section. 11/01/2005
Acquisition of new facilities in La Garriga

After several months of negotiations, Cepex Holding, S.A. has finally signed the agreement for the acquisition of productive facilities located in La Garriga (Barcelona). The facilities have a total area of 33.000 m2, 17.000 of which are building surface.

The objective of this transaction is to create a modern and innovating production plant in La Garriga where to step up productive investment as well as to develop product and process innovations. The resulting increase of the productive capacity constitutes a decisive factor for the development of the holding.

The main purpose of the concentration of the production of Cepex plastic valves in the same facilities is to group, to homogenize and to make profitable the productive processes. The first productive activities in the new facilities of La Garriga are expected to begin shortly. Therefor existing facilities are being reorganized and adapted to Cepex future needs.

New Cepex facilities in France

From September Cepex France has moved to the industrial estate "Saint Césaire", located in the outskirts of Nîmes. The change has taken place with the objective to improve substantially the logistic and customer service. From now on, Cepex France counts on facilicites with and area of 5000 m2, 1000 m2 of building surface, which includes a warehouse with 2300 product locations and a retail selling point for the professionals. On the other hand, the public opening hours have been increased and the current product offer (plastic valves and fittings) will be gradually complemented. Cepex in Aquatech

Cepex has participated in Aquatech 2004, the biggest trade show of water technology, which has taken place in Amsterdam RAI from September the 28th to October the 1st. With more than 150 products in exhibition, Cepex has presented in Aquatech its solutions for industrial applications in water treatment equipment, drinking water distribution nets and transport and distribution of waste water, between others. Between exhibited new products is remarcable the new range of Cepex fittings in PE100 (electrofusion and butt welding) ideal for its utilisation in water treatment equipment. PE is a material resistant to impacts, to extreme temperature and corossion free, flexible, light weight and with a low friction coefficient. This characteristics ensures a trustworthy, fast and with a low cost installations. In this edition, the trade show counted about 800 exhibitors, a 25% more than the last edition. About 55% of exhibitors were international, representing a sum of 47 countries. Moreover to Aquatech a lot of meetings (national and international) were celebrated. The trade show also had a wide program of national and international meetings orientated to foment the change of ideas, knowledges and experiences between the participants.

Cepex participates in the Euro 2004

Between the 12th of June and the 4th of July the Euro 2004 football championships are being held in Portugal, and Cepex is participating actively with its products. All ten stadiums located in eight cities around the country rely on Cepex products for their irrigation systems. Once again, Cepex demonstrates great variety in the application of its products. The facilities contain products from several families, including PVC and PP fittings and valves, valve boxes, and saddles. Though all the sites were recently inaugurated, the installation and fine-tuning of the facilities have been in progress since 1998 when construction of the stadium in Bessa began. During all these years, the project has counted on Cepex products and support.

Managers meeting 2004

The Cepex managers' meeting was held on June 11th and 12th at the Hotel AC Barcelona Forum. This gathering brought together the leaders of all the commercial branches from around the world: France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, USA, Mexico, and the new division in Spain, Cepex Comercial. The meeting addressed several topics related to the future of the company. In addition, each manager described the conditions of the market in which he is operating, and how he has been able to succeed under those conditions.

New ACS certification

A new certification has been granted to Forplast for its polypropylene (PP) fittings products. The certification is ACS or Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire, which is awarded by the Laboratoire Hygiene et de Recherche en Santé Publique in France, but is applicable throughout Europe. The official recognition is valid until April 2009, and to obtain it required that all types of manufactured fittings pass several tests. This certification is necessary for all fittings used in handling water for human consumption. By achieving this distinction, Cepex once again moves ahead of the competition. New DVGW certification

Forplast has recently obtained the German DVGW certification for the Performance Series of polypropylene (PP) compression fittings for connection with polyethylene (PE) piping systems. This achievement expands the quality standard for these products to include all of Eastern Europe. Cepex' compression fittings ranging in diameter from 16 to 110 mm are used throughout the world and are approved for usage with drinking water. The primary applications include water distribution, irrigation, and industrial water treatment. Products are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including elbows, tees, nipples, adaptor sockets, and caps. Cepex in Smagua

Zaragoza: Last week, from the 17th to the 20th of February, Cepex participated in the Smagua trade show, the largest scientific and technical gathering in the water treatment and environmental fields. The worldwide expansion of these industries has made this event a point of reference for the sector. Cepex not only attended the conference, but gained recognition by being awarded top honors for the quality of their booth. The exhibit showcased Cepex' wide range of products, introducing and highlighting some of this year's newest ones, including PVC flexible hose, knife gate valves, and PE 100 valves and fittings that can be electrofusion or butt welded.

New Corporate Website

Cepex releases a new corporate website that offers visitors news and information about the company in a comfortable, fast, and effective format. The updated structure optimizes access to the information, speeding up the process of finding answers to the questions asked by users. As a result of its intuitive layout, the new site is both more dynamic and simpler to use. Cepex in Achema

Cepex GmbH attended the Achema 2003 trade show, which took place in Frankfurt from the 17th to the 24th of May. Achema is the most important event for the Chemical Industry worldwide. Cepex in the 10th FINA World Championships

Cepex is one of the official suppliers involved in the construction of the world's largest free-standing swimming pool, which will be used for the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships taking place from the 13th to the 27th of July in Barcelona. Thanks to innovative technical designs, the pool is one of the most spectacular in the world. It will be located in the Palau Sant Jordi, a multifunctional arena with capacity for 12,000 people designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki for the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games. The swimming pool will consist of galvanized steel panels, and will measure 50 x 25 x 2 m (164 x 82 x 6.6 ft) with a surface area of 1,250 m² (13,500 ft²) and a volume of 2,500 m³ (660,000 gallons). It will be assembled on top of a sand foundation covering the floor of the Palau Sant Jordi without any additional supports. The water treatment system will provide an innovative compact filtration and disinfection solution. Portable monoblocs measuring 6.6 x 2.5 x 2 m (21.7 x 8.2 x 6.6 ft) with state-of-the-art filters will guarantee crystal clear water. In addition, one of the most advanced and environmentally-friendly ozone and bromine disinfection systems will be employed.

Anual Sales Meeting

The Cepex annual sales meeting took place in Barcelona last December. Since 1997, the Cepex sales network has been growing due to the creation of several branches all over the world (Portugal, Italy, USA, Mexico, France, Germany, and Morocco). New Logistics Center
greater efficiency, better service

Starting at the beginning of this year, Trace Logistics (located in Maçanet de la Selva, Girona) will be Cepex' new logistics operator. The facility is capable of processing approximately 150,000 pallets and 7,000 trucks each year, and occupies a space of 19,000 m² (205,000 ft²). Trace Logistics employs the latest technologies, including a vertical storage system with capacity for up to 20,000 pallets that are placed and retrieved automatically using mobile lifting platforms; conveyorized box transport systems; and a high-speed box classification system capable of preparing as many as 14 orders simultaneously. As a result of the expansion plan that Cepex has been executing over the last several years, it became necessary to create an infrastructure that would allow for the consolidation and centralization of all receiving, storage, and distribution functions. With these new facilities, customers will benefit from an improvement in logistics management, and Cepex will continue fulfilling its philosophy of offering its customers the best service possible.
